Lantus 100IU/ml, Solution for Injection is a long-acting insulin designed to help manage blood glucose levels over an extended period. It contains Insulin Glargine, a basal insulin that offers stable blood sugar control throughout the day. This formulation is ideal for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes patients, providing effective blood glucose management with a single daily injection. The inclusion of M-Cresol as a preservative ensures the stability of the insulin solution, preventing contamination and enhancing its longevity.
DIABETES First Line Therapies Insulin Therapy > Insulin Glargine is a long-acting (basal) insulin that controls blood sugar with a single daily dose, making it suitable for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. When used in combination with prandial (meal-time) insulin, it provides effective overall blood sugar control, reducing glucose variability and the risk of nighttime hypoglycemia. This combination makes it crucial in basal-bolus therapy for diabetes management.
Insulin Glargine provides stable, prolonged control of blood glucose levels. It does not peak like other insulins and works continuously throughout the day. Insulin Glargine's slow release and long duration make it essential for patients requiring consistent blood sugar control, especially overnight. It is commonly used as part of basal-bolus insulin therapy to ensure 24-hour blood glucose management.
For Type 1 Diabetes - Insulin Glargine (U-100): - Initial Dose: Approximately 1/3 of total daily insulin requirement, administered once daily. - Maintenance Dose: Adjust according to metabolic needs and blood glucose levels. - Insulin Glargine (U-300): - Initial Dose: 1/3 to 1/2 of total daily insulin requirement, administered once daily. Full effect may take 5 days. - Maintenance Dose: Adjust based on individual needs, with dose titration every 3-4 days. - Dose Conversion (U-100 to U-300): U-300 requires a higher dose to maintain similar glycemic control. - Conversion from other insulins: Adjust dose based on the type of insulin being switched. For Type 2 Diabetes - Insulin-naive: - U-100: Start at 0.2 units/kg (up to 10 units) daily. - U-300: Start at 0.2 units/kg daily. The effect may take 5 days to manifest. - Dose Conversion: Switch between U-100 and U-300 as per the guidelines for Type 1 diabetes. For Pediatric Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes (Age 6 and older) - Insulin Glargine (U-100 or U-300): - Initial Dose: One-third of the total daily insulin requirement. - Maintenance Dose: Adjust according to needs and blood glucose levels. - Conversion: Similar to adult dosing, with extra caution in pediatric cases. General Comments: - Changes in physical activity, diet, or illness may require dose adjustments. - Blood glucose should be closely monitored, particularly during insulin regimen changes. - For basal-bolus therapy, insulin glargine provides one-third to one-half of the total insulin requirement, with bolus insulin for the remaining portion. ------------------ Insulin Cartridge Replacement Guide (Steps 1 to 5) 1. Prepare the Pen - Remove the pen cap. - Unscrew the cartridge holder from the pen body. - Push the plunger rod fully to ensure it’s ready for the new cartridge. 2. Insert New Cartridge - Check the new insulin cartridge for any damage and verify that the insulin inside is intact. - Insert the cartridge with the threaded side first, then screw the holder back into place. 3. Attach a New Needle - Remove the paper tab from the needle and attach it vertically to the pen. - Remove both the outer and inner needle caps. 4. Test Insulin Flow - Set the pen to 2 units and point the needle upwards. - Press the injection button to ensure insulin flows from the needle tip. - Repeat the process if necessary to eliminate air bubbles. 5. Set Dosage and Inject - Adjust the pen to the required dosage. - Inject insulin into the desired site by pressing the injection button. - After injection, remove the needle and dispose of it safely.
Store the insulin solution in the refrigerator before use. Do not freeze. After the pen is in use, it can be kept at room temperature for up to 28 days. Keep the pen away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity to maintain its efficacy.
Common side effects may include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), skin reactions such as redness and swelling at the injection site, and weight gain. In rare cases, serious side effects like allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis), shortness of breath, and swelling of the throat may occur. Prolonged use may lead to insulin resistance.
Every stage from dispatch to arrival was visible online.
No hold-up this time. The tracking worked smoothly too.
I was honestly nervous about ordering refrigerated insulin online, but this company exceeded expectations. The vial came in a sealed thermal pouch with a cold pack still partially frozen. Expiration dates matched, and tracking was updated regularly.
Aucun souci de douane, très satisfait.
My shipment was briefly flagged at customs, but thanks to standard insurance, they resent it quickly without extra charge. The support team responded within hours. Highly recommend insuring for this type of product.
