Product Description

Lotepred Eye Drop (Loteprednol Etabonate 0.5%) is a medium-strength corticosteroid ophthalmic suspension used for moderate to severe inflammatory eye conditions.
As an ester-based steroid, it provides strong anti-inflammatory action with a lower risk of steroid-induced IOP elevation than ketone-based corticosteroids like prednisolone.
It is widely used for post-operative inflammation, allergic or inflammatory conjunctivitis, and non-infectious ocular inflammatory disorders requiring stronger steroid therapy.

Indications & Uses

  • Moderate to severe inflammatory eye conditions
  • (post-operative inflammation, uveitis, non-infectious keratitis)
  • Post-cataract / LASIK inflammation control
  • Allergic & inflammatory conjunctivitis in persistent cases
  • Steroid-responsive disorders requiring stronger therapy
  • Adjunctive use with antihistamines or lubricants

Benefits & Effectiveness

  • Greater anti-inflammatory strength than Lotepred-LS 0.2%
  • Lower IOP-elevation risk vs prednisolone/dexamethasone
  • Highly effective for post-surgical inflammation
  • Relieves pain, redness, photophobia, and irritation
  • Smooth suspension for consistent, comfortable dosing

FAQs

Lotepred-T Eye Drop combines Loteprednol (a corticosteroid) and Tobramycin (an antibiotic). It is used to treat eye inflammation accompanied by bacterial infection or the risk of infection, especially after eye surgery or in severe conjunctival irritation.
Mild burning, irritation, or temporary blurred vision may occur. Because it contains a steroid, prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure. Due to the antibiotic component, rare allergic reactions or sensitivity may appear.
Loteprednol reduces inflammation by inhibiting inflammatory mediators, while Tobramycin eliminates harmful bacteria by blocking protein synthesis in bacterial cells. This dual action helps control both inflammation and infection.
Typically, one to two drops are instilled into the affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours, or as directed by your doctor. Shake well before use and avoid touching the dropper tip.
It is recommended for patients with eye inflammation where bacterial infection is present or suspected. It should not be used by patients with viral or fungal eye infections, or those allergic to any component of the medication.
