Lupitros Eye Drops contain travoprost 0.004%, a prostaglandin F2α analog that enhances aqueous humor outflow through both uveoscleral and trabecular meshwork pathways. It is widely prescribed for patients with ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma to prevent optic nerve damage and slow the progression of visual field loss. In addition to its primary ophthalmic indication, travoprost has been associated with increased eyelash growth, including lengthening, thickening, and darkening of lashes, which has led to its secondary use in cosmetic applications. The onset of action occurs within 2 hours, with maximum intraocular pressure reduction achieved within 12 hours of instillation.

- Promotes outflow of aqueous humor via uveoscleral and trabecular pathways, lowering intraocular pressure (IOP). - Protects optic nerve from damage caused by sustained high IOP. - Reduces the risk of glaucoma progression and visual field deterioration. - Secondary cosmetic effect: stimulates eyelash follicles, leading to enhanced eyelash growth. - Well tolerated with once-daily dosing, improving patient adherence compared to multiple-dose regimens.
Usual Adult Dose for Intraocular Hypertension / Glaucoma (Open Angle): - One drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. - Do not exceed once-daily administration, as more frequent use may paradoxically reduce efficacy. - IOP reduction begins approximately 2 hours post-dose, with peak effect at 12 hours. Pediatric Dosing (≥16 years): - Same as adults: One drop in affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Comments: - If multiple ophthalmic medications are required, apply at least 5 minutes apart. - Remove contact lenses before instillation; lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes afterward. - Long-term use may induce gradual iris pigmentation changes (brown discoloration). - Eyelash growth effect is reversible upon discontinuation of therapy.
- Store at controlled room temperature (15–25°C). - Protect from light and keep tightly closed. - Do not freeze. - Keep out of reach of children.
- Common: Mild ocular irritation, redness, itching, foreign body sensation. - Cosmetic: Eyelash growth, periocular skin darkening, iris pigmentation (irreversible in some cases). - Rare: Macular edema, uveitis, hypersensitivity reactions.
