Budecort 0.5mg Respules is a generic version of Pulmicort, containing Budesonide 500mcg per 2ml unit. It is a corticosteroid indicated for maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Delivered via nebulizer, it helps control inflammation in the airways, reduces bronchial hyperresponsiveness, and prevents the recurrence of wheezing and breathlessness.
- Budecort 0.5mg Respules is used in the long-term management of bronchial asthma and moderate COPD, especially in individuals who require consistent anti-inflammatory support but prefer nebulization over inhalers. - As part of the Inhaled Corticosteroid (ICS) class, it reduces swelling and mucus in the airways, improving breathing and reducing dependence on rescue medication. - It is effective in pediatric and elderly populations with recurrent wheezing, post-viral airway sensitivity, and reactive airway disease, where nebulized ICS is often recommended.
- Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that acts directly on the bronchial mucosa to inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory mediators. - It reduces airway swelling and irritation, making breathing easier over time and preventing acute exacerbations.
- Use one respule (2ml) per dose via nebulizer, usually once or twice daily, as prescribed. - Do not inject or swallow. Intended for inhalation only. - Shake the unit dose gently before use. - Rinse the mouth with water after inhalation to prevent oral thrush.
- Store below 30°C. Protect from direct sunlight and freezing. - Keep unit doses in foil pouches until ready to use. Keep out of reach of children.
- Common side effects may include hoarseness, cough, dry mouth, throat irritation, or oral thrush. - Rarely, it may cause adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, or allergic reactions.
