Product Description

NS-Aid Eye Drop (Nepafenac 0.1%) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ophthalmic suspension (NSAID) formulated to manage pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. As a prodrug converted to amfenac within ocular tissues, it provides targeted inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis at the site of inflammation. NS-Aid offers effective relief from postoperative irritation, swelling, photophobia, and discomfort, and is widely used as part of standard cataract recovery protocols.

Indications & Uses

  • Post-Cataract Surgery Pain & Inflammation: Reduces swelling and improves visual comfort during recovery.
  • Post-Operative Ocular Pain: Eases burning, irritation, and sensitivity to light.
  • Adjunctive Therapy: May complement corticosteroid drops when enhanced anti-inflammatory action is needed.
  • Macular Edema Prevention (Select Patients): May be recommended under specialist supervision, especially for diabetics undergoing cataract surgery.

Benefits & Effectiveness

  • Strong NSAID action reduces prostaglandin-mediated inflammation.
  • Prodrug mechanism allows efficient penetration and targeted anti-inflammatory activity.
  • Helps relieve postoperative pain, burning, and foreign-body sensation.
  • Reduces photophobia and supports faster functional vision recovery.
  • An effective steroid-sparing option for sensitive patients.

Directions for Use

  • Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily,
  • beginning one day before surgery, continuing on the day of surgery, and for up to 14 days after,
  • or as directed by your ophthalmologist.
  • Shake well before each use to ensure proper suspension.
  • Wash hands before application and avoid touching the dropper tip.
  • If using other eye medications, maintain a 5-minute interval between products.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during the postoperative period unless approved by your surgeon.

Storage

  • Store at room temperature (below 25–30°C).
  • Protect from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Discard any unused solution 4 weeks after opening.

Possible Side Effects

Common: Mild burning or stinging, transient blurred vision, eye discomfort.
Uncommon: Redness, dryness, increased tearing, headache.
Rare / Serious: Corneal thinning, delayed epithelial healing, increased intraocular pressure—stop use and seek urgent care if severe symptoms occur.
