Qvar 100 Autohaler is an original inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) product manufactured by TEVA, containing Beclomethasone Dipropionate 100mcg per dose. Designed for daily use with a breath-actuated Autohaler device, it provides targeted anti-inflammatory action in the lungs, helping to prevent asthma symptoms and maintain long-term respiratory control. Qvar is a controller medication, not intended for rapid relief during asthma attacks.
- Qvar 100 Autohaler is a low-dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) designed for the long-term prevention and control of asthma in adults and adolescents. It reduces airway inflammation, helping to alleviate persistent symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, especially when triggered by allergens or exercise. - This formulation is primarily indicated for RESPIRATORY DISEASES > Asthma / COPD, and is suitable for patients who require regular anti-inflammatory maintenance therapy. As a controller medication, it is not intended for acute symptom relief but for daily use to maintain symptom stability and reduce exacerbation frequency. - Additionally, Beclomethasone—the active ingredient—has shown effectiveness in managing allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and runny nose, by suppressing local inflammation in the upper respiratory tract. While Qvar is delivered via the lungs, its systemic anti-inflammatory effect may indirectly benefit patients with coexisting nasal allergies. - Its breath-actuated Autohaler device ensures consistent and effortless dose delivery, making it suitable for patients who may struggle with coordination when using standard MDIs.
- Beclomethasone Dipropionate is a glucocorticoid that works by suppressing the inflammatory response in the lungs, reducing swelling, mucus production, and irritation of the airways. - Regular use helps keep airways open and reactive triggers under control, offering long-term asthma management and fewer exacerbations.
For Respiratory Diseases > Asthma / COPD - Qvar 100 Autohaler contains Beclomethasone, an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that helps control chronic airway inflammation, making it effective for asthma and COPD symptom maintenance. - Dosage: Inhale 1 to 2 puffs twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider. - Administration: The Autohaler is breath-activated. Raise the lever, exhale fully, then inhale deeply through the mouthpiece until the medication is delivered. - Do not use this inhaler for acute asthma attacks—a separate fast-acting bronchodilator should be used for immediate relief. - Rinse your mouth with water after each use to help prevent oral thrush (candidiasis). - Use at the same time every day to maintain consistent therapeutic effect. For Respiratory Diseases > Allergic Rhinitis - Though primarily formulated for inhalation into the lungs, Beclomethasone also offers systemic anti-inflammatory benefits that may help reduce upper respiratory allergic symptoms in some cases of allergic rhinitis when prescribed accordingly. - Dosage and administration remain as described above when used as part of a broader respiratory treatment plan. - It is not a substitute for a dedicated intranasal corticosteroid; consult your doctor before using for nasal allergy symptoms.
- Store at below 30°C in a dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight. - Do not puncture, burn, or expose the canister to high temperatures. - Keep out of reach of children.
- Common side effects may include hoarseness, sore throat, cough, or oral thrush (fungal infection). - Rinsing the mouth after use can reduce the risk. - Rarely, it may cause systemic steroid effects with prolonged high-dose use.
