Lametec 100 DT is a well-established generic formulation of lamotrigine, developed to manage a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders. It is primarily prescribed as an antiepileptic and mood-stabilizing agent, and is especially favored for its safety profile and efficacy in long-term treatment of epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
- Sleep & Mental Health > Epilepsy Lamotrigine is used to manage partial-onset and generalized seizures by regulating abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It is considered one of the first-line therapies for epilepsy, either as monotherapy or in combination with other anticonvulsants. > Bipolar Disorder Widely used to prevent recurrence of depressive episodes in bipolar disorder, lamotrigine is effective as a maintenance therapy. Its mood-stabilizing properties are especially beneficial for patients experiencing frequent depressive swings. > Depression, Anxiety, PTSD In patients resistant to conventional antidepressants like SSRIs and SNRIs, lamotrigine may be employed as an adjunctive agent to enhance mood stability and reduce emotional fluctuations. > ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Lamotrigine is occasionally used in ADHD cases with comorbid epilepsy or mood disorders to improve emotional regulation and reduce behavioral instability. > Improve Memory, Concentration and Brain Function Lamotrigine has shown potential cognitive-enhancing effects, aiding attention span and neurological focus in certain clinical cases involving neuropsychiatric deficits.
Lamotrigine exerts its effects by blocking voltage-sensitive sodium channels and decreasing presynaptic glutamate release, which helps stabilize neuronal membranes and reduce excitatory transmission in the brain.
