Bd-Taxel 100, Injection – 16.7 ml is a chemotherapy formulation containing paclitaxel 100 mg, a cytotoxic agent belonging to the taxane class of antineoplastics.
Its mechanism of action involves stabilizing microtubules and preventing their disassembly during mitosis, which results in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of rapidly dividing tumor cells.
This injectable preparation is indicated for the treatment of multiple solid tumors, including:
Ovarian cancer
Breast cancer
Non-small cell and small cell lung cancers
AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma
Administered via intravenous infusion, Bd-Taxel 100 ensures rapid systemic exposure and plays a vital role in first-line, adjuvant, and salvage chemotherapy protocols.
AntiCancer Drugs > Ovarian Cancer (Advanced & Recurrent)
Used in combination with platinum-based regimens such as cisplatin or carboplatin, Bd-Taxel 100, Injection – 16.7 ml plays a key role in both first-line and salvage therapy for ovarian cancer, effectively inhibiting tumor growth and prolonging survival.
AntiCancer Drugs > Breast Cancer (Metastatic & Adjuvant)
Effective as second-line monotherapy or as adjuvant therapy after anthracycline-based treatment. Frequently combined with trastuzumab in HER2-positive patients to improve outcomes.
AntiCancer Drugs > Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (Advanced NSCLC)
Administered with cisplatin in patients who are ineligible for surgery or radiation, where it helps enhance progression-free survival and improve response rates.
AntiCancer Drugs > Kaposi’s Sarcoma (AIDS-related)
Recommended as second-line treatment for AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma, particularly in patients receiving ongoing antiretroviral therapy.
AntiCancer Drugs > Other Solid Tumors
Also explored and applied in cervical cancer, head and neck cancers, and pancreatic cancer as part of systemic chemotherapy regimens.
Inhibits cell mitosis by stabilizing microtubules
Enhances tumor regression across multiple cancer types
Improves progression-free survival and overall survival when used in combination regimens
Shows synergistic effects with agents such as cisplatin, trastuzumab, and gemcitabine
Ovarian Cancer:
First-line: 175 mg/m² IV over 3 hrs + cisplatin every 3 weeks, or 135 mg/m² IV over 24 hrs
Recurrent: 135–175 mg/m² IV over 3 hrs every 3 weeks
Breast Cancer:
Metastatic: 175 mg/m² IV over 3 hrs every 3 weeks
Adjuvant: 175 mg/m² IV over 3 hrs every 3 weeks × 4 cycles
Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC):
135 mg/m² IV over 24 hrs + cisplatin every 3 weeks
Kaposi’s Sarcoma (AIDS-related):
135 mg/m² IV over 3 hrs every 3 weeks
or 100 mg/m² IV every 2 weeks
Important Notes:
Premedicate with corticosteroids, antihistamines, and H2 blockers to reduce hypersensitivity risk
Monitor CBC prior to each cycle; withhold if ANC < 1000/mm³
Adjust dose according to severity of neutropenia or neuropathy
Preferably infuse via a central venous line to minimize local irritation and extravasation risk
Store below 25°C (77°F)
Protect from light
Do not freeze
Once diluted, use within recommended time according to institution guidelines
Common: alopecia, nausea, vomiting, myelosuppression, mucositis
