Product Description

Lucivand 30 Capsule contains vandetanib, an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets RET, VEGFR, and EGFR pathways to inhibit tumor angiogenesis, proliferation and metastatic spread. Lucivand is indicated for systemic treatment of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) when surgery is not possible or disease is metastatic.

The once-daily capsule allows outpatient long-term therapy with predictable exposure. Available through reputable online pharmacy channels, Lucivand is intended for specialist-managed care with close ECG and laboratory monitoring.

Indications & Uses

  • Usual adult dose (MTC): 300 mg orally once daily — continue until unacceptable toxicity or documented progression.
  • Administration notes: take at the same time each day, with or without food; swallow capsules whole (do not crush or split). Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit products.
  • Dose modification: reduce or interrupt dosing for severe adverse events (QT prolongation, grade ≥2 toxicity, severe diarrhea, interstitial lung disease, hepatic impairment) per protocol.
  • Perioperative: withhold for at least ~3 weeks before major surgery (risk of wound-healing complications) and resume only after adequate recovery.
  • Drug interactions: CYP3A4 and QT-prolonging agents require review; consult oncology pharmacist for co-medication adjustments.
  • Monitoring & Precautions
    ECG: baseline ECG, then monthly for the first 3 months (monitor QTc); continue periodic ECGs thereafter as clinically indicated.
    Labs: baseline and periodic monitoring of serum potassium, calcium, magnesium, liver function tests, and thyroid function.
    Vitals: monitor blood pressure regularly; manage hypertension promptly.
  • Clinical vigilance: assess for diarrhea, mucositis, bleeding, thromboembolic events, signs of interstitial lung disease/pneumonitis, and skin reactions.
  • Contraindications/precautions: congenital long QT syndrome, uncontrolled hypertension, severe hepatic impairment—use with caution or avoid as appropriate.

Storage

  • Store capsules in original container at room temperature below 30°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if expired or visibly altered.

Possible Side Effects

  • Very common: diarrhea, fatigue, rash, nausea, hypertension, decreased appetite.
  • Common/serious: mucositis/stomatitis, elevated transaminases, proteinuria, wound-healing complications.
  • Serious but less frequent: QT prolongation and life-threatening arrhythmias, hemorrhage, gastrointestinal perforation, venous/arterial thromboembolism, interstitial lung disease, severe dermatologic reactions (eg, SJS).
