Mebex 100 is a widely used generic formulation of mebendazole 100mg, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effective against a wide range of gastrointestinal parasitic infections. It works by inhibiting the glucose uptake of helminths, eventually leading to energy depletion and death.

Can be administered as either a single-dose or short-course therapy. > Hookworm Infections Demonstrates potent activity against Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus, reducing worm burden and alleviating iron-deficiency anemia. > Mixed Helminth Infections Indicated for polymicrobial helminthic infections involving pinworm, whipworm, hookworm, and roundworm with a single active agent. > Community Deworming Widely adopted in school-based public health programs and recommended by WHO for mass deworming initiatives in endemic areas. > Off-label Antitumor Potential Under preclinical and early-phase investigation for various malignancies including glioblastoma, thyroid cancer, and melanoma. Shows promise in inducing microtubule disruption and apoptotic pathways in cancer cells.
Mebendazole selectively disrupts tubulin polymerization in intestinal helminths, impairing their cellular structure and metabolic function, leading to immobilization and elimination from the host body.
[Adult Dosing] - Hookworm, Whipworm, Ascariasis: 100 mg BID for 3 days or 500 mg once Repeat in 3 weeks if not cured - Pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis): 100 mg once Repeat in 2 weeks Treat entire household if reinfection risk is high - Capillariasis: 200 mg BID for 20 days - Trichostrongylosis: 100 mg BID for 3 days - Trichinosis: 200–400 mg TID for 3 days, then 400–500 mg TID for 10 days Corticosteroids may be added if severe - Visceral Larva Migrans: 100–200 mg BID for 5–20 days Use steroids for severe or ocular involvement [Pediatric Dosing] - Hookworm, Whipworm, Ascariasis: ≥2 years: 100 mg BID for 3 days ≥1 year (500 mg form): 500 mg once Repeat after 3 weeks if needed - Pinworm: ≥2 years: 100 mg once Repeat in 2 weeks Treat entire household if needed - Capillariasis: 200 mg BID for 20 days - Trichostrongylosis: 100 mg BID for 3 days - Trichinosis: 200–400 mg TID for 3 days, then 400–500 mg TID for 10 days Use corticosteroids for severe infection - Visceral Larva Migrans: 100–200 mg BID for 5–20 days Extend treatment if CNS or ocular involvement exists
