Imiquad 5% Cream is a topical immunomodulatory agent containing Imiquimod, designed for external application. It works by stimulating the innate and adaptive immune responses at the application site, enhancing the body's ability to fight off abnormal skin cells, viral infections, and superficial malignancies. This formulation is typically supplied as three single-use sachets for controlled dosing.
- AntiCancer Drugs > Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma (sBCC) Used for treating biopsy-confirmed superficial basal cell carcinoma (≤2 cm) located on the trunk, neck, or limbs when surgical intervention is not suitable. It enhances immune-mediated destruction of cancerous cells. - Diseases/Symptoms > Actinic Keratosis Indicated for immunocompetent adults with clinically typical actinic keratoses on the full face or balding scalp. It activates local immune responses to target and eliminate precancerous skin lesions. - Sexual Wellness > External Genital and Perianal Warts (Condylomata Acuminata) Approved for treatment of external genital and perianal warts caused by HPV. Suitable for both adults and adolescents aged 12+, it helps eliminate lesions via immune system activation.
Imiquimod 5% cream works as a Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist, inducing the release of interferon-alpha, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and other cytokines. These responses aid in the clearance of abnormal or infected cells. It is compatible for use in: - Actinic keratosis on the face or scalp - Genital/perianal warts in both adults and adolescents - Superficial basal cell carcinoma in non-surgical cases
For Actinic Keratosis (Adults): - Apply to a 5x5 cm area twice weekly for 16 weeks. Leave on ~8 hours, then wash off. For Genital/Perianal Warts (Adults): - Apply three times per week for up to 16 weeks. Leave on 6–10 hours, then wash off. For Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma: - Apply 5 times per week for 6 weeks to confirmed lesion with 1 cm margin. Leave on ~8 hours. For Genital/Perianal Warts (12+ years): - Apply three times weekly for up to 16 weeks or until lesion clears. Leave on 6–10 hours, then wash off.
Store at controlled room temperature (15–25°C). Avoid freezing. Keep sachets sealed until use and discard opened sachets after single application.
Common adverse effects include redness, burning, erosion, flaking, and swelling at the application site. Improper use on sensitive areas or mucosa may increase risk of irritation. Use with caution in pediatric patients. Systemic symptoms are rare.
