Cetcip 10 is a generic form of Zyrtec, containing Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10mg, a second-generation antihistamine known for its long-lasting action and minimal sedative effects. It is widely used for treating seasonal and chronic allergic symptoms, including hay fever, skin allergies, and allergic conjunctivitis. As a once-daily, non-drowsy antihistamine, it provides relief without interfering with daytime activity.
- Cetcip 10 is primarily used to treat symptoms of hay fever such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and a runny nose. - It also helps relieve itching and inflammation associated with atopic dermatitis and allergic conjunctivitis. - In some cases, its mild sedative effect may assist patients experiencing sleep disturbances due to allergies.
- Cetirizine blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing allergic responses in nasal, dermal, and ocular tissues. - Its onset begins within an hour and provides 24-hour symptom control with a single dose.
ALLERGY > Hay Fever - Cetirizine is commonly used to relieve symptoms of hay fever such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion caused by pollen or other airborne allergens. - Dosage: Adults & children ≥12 years: 10mg once daily (1 tablet). - If drowsiness occurs, 5mg twice daily (morning and evening) may be used. - Children 6–12 years: 5mg twice daily. - Not recommended for children under 6. - For patients with moderate renal impairment: 5mg once daily. - Administration: Swallow whole with water, with or without food. - Avoid taking more than 1 tablet per day. - If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered, but wait 24 hours before the next dose. ALLERGY > Atopic Dermatitis - Used as a systemic antihistamine, Cetirizine helps reduce itchiness and inflammation in allergic skin conditions such as eczema. - Dosage & Administration: Same dosing as above. - Best taken consistently each day to maintain antihistamine levels. - Avoid alcohol and sedatives if drowsiness becomes problematic. ALLERGY > Conjunctivitis - Helps relieve allergic eye symptoms including itching, redness, and tearing. - Dosage & Administration: As per standard antihistamine dosing. - Can be combined with antihistamine eye drops if prescribed. - Maintain hydration and avoid rubbing the eyes. SLEEP & MENTAL HEALTH > Insomnia/Sleeping aids (Off-label benefit) - Though not primarily indicated as a sleep aid, the sedative effect of Cetirizine may help certain individuals with mild sleep difficulties. - Dosage & Administration: 10mg taken in the evening may induce drowsiness in sensitive individuals. - Should only be used this way under medical guidance. - Avoid alcohol or CNS depressants due to increased sedation risk.

- Possible side effects include dry mouth, headache, mild drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue. - These are generally mild and temporary. - Rarely, urinary retention or palpitations may occur.
