Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop contains Ciprofloxacin 0.3% W/V, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes and ears. It effectively combats bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, corneal ulcers, otitis externa, and other ophthalmic and otic infections. By inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop helps eliminate infections quickly and effectively, reducing inflammation, redness, and discomfort.
Antibiotics & Infections Chlamydia and Gonorrhea – Used for sexually transmitted disease (STD)-related eye infections, such as bacterial conjunctivitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (SSTIs) – Effective in treating outer ear infections (otitis externa) and eyelid infections (hordeolum or stye). Additional effects Klebsiella pneumoniae – May be used in ophthalmic infections involving Klebsiella bacteria. Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infections – Used in cases where CRE-related eye and ear infections occur. Acinetobacter baumannii – Sometimes used for Acinetobacter-related eye infections in hospital settings. Diseases & Symptoms Common Eye Disorders – Treats bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) and corneal ulcers effectively. Oral Health – Not intended for oral infections but used as a topical ophthalmic solution for bacterial eye infections. Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop is formulated for topical use only and should not be ingested. It may be prescribed alone or with other medications depending on the severity of the infection.
Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop works by blocking bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial replication. This prevents bacteria from multiplying, effectively eliminating eye and ear infections. As a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop is highly effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it a powerful treatment for bacterial eye and ear infections.
For Antibiotics & Infections > Chlamydia and Gonorrhea - Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops are not primarily used for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, but in rare cases, ciprofloxacin-based eye drops may be prescribed for ocular manifestations of chlamydia (inclusion conjunctivitis) or gonorrheal conjunctivitis. - Dosage for Gonococcal Conjunctivitis: Apply 1-2 drops every 2 hours for the first 2 days, then reduce to every 4 hours as directed by a doctor. - Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination. - Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication. For Antibiotics & Infections > Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (SSTIs) - While Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops are primarily used for eye and ear infections, they can be part of a combination therapy for infected wounds, ulcers, or surgical site infections near the eye or ear region. - Dosage for Minor Skin Infections Around the Eyes: Apply 1-2 drops every 4-6 hours, as prescribed by a doctor. - If used for a wound infection, avoid direct application inside open wounds unless specifically advised by a healthcare provider. For Diseases/Symptoms > Common Eye Disorders (Bacterial Eye Infections) - Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops are commonly used for bacterial eye infections, including: Bacterial Conjunctivitis (pink eye) – Apply 1-2 drops every 2-4 hours for the first 2 days, then reduce frequency as directed. - Keratitis/Corneal Ulcers – Use 1 drop every 1-2 hours initially, then reduce to every 4 hours as the infection improves. - Wash hands before application and avoid touching the dropper tip. - Do not wear contact lenses while using Ciplox Eye Drops for an eye infection. For Diseases/Symptoms > Oral Health (Not Directly Indicated for Oral Infections) - Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops are not typically used for oral infections, but in rare cases, ciprofloxacin eye drops may be used for ocular complications related to oral infections (e.g., infections spreading from dental abscesses to the eye). - If prescribed in such cases, follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. - Never apply Ciplox Eye Drops inside the mouth; this medication is only for external ophthalmic and otic (ear) use. General Precautions for Ciplox Eye/Ear Drops For Eye Use: - Tilt the head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill drops. - Keep eyes closed for a few seconds after application. - Avoid wearing contact lenses until the infection clears. - If severe irritation or vision changes occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor. For Ear Use: - Lie down or tilt the head to one side, instill 3-4 drops twice daily for 7 days (for Otitis Externa - Swimmer’s Ear). - Keep the head tilted for a few minutes after application. - Do not insert cotton swabs or other objects into the ear while using this medication. - If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as possible unless it is close to the next scheduled dose. - Complete the full prescribed course to prevent recurrence and antibiotic resistance.
- Store Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. - Keep at room temperature (below 30°C / 86°F). - Store upright in the original packaging to prevent leakage. - Keep out of reach of children and pets. - Do not freeze or expose to high heat. - Discard 30 days after opening.

Dryness or mild discomfort in the affected area. - Less Common Side Effects: Increased eye/ear sensitivity to light. Excessive tearing (eye use). If symptoms persist or worsen, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
