Reference information will be available soon.
Konaqueen 50 contains Fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent indicated for both the treatment and prevention of a wide range of fungal infections. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme, thereby disrupting ergosterol synthesis—a critical component for maintaining the integrity of fungal cell membranes.
This disruption leads to defective cell membranes, impaired replication, and eventual fungal cell death. With reliable oral bioavailability and consistent tissue penetration, Konaqueen 50 is suitable for managing both superficial infections such as mucosal candidiasis and systemic infections including cryptococcosis and invasive candidiasis.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Vaginal & Oral Candidiasis
Used for the rapid relief of itching, discharge, and discomfort caused by Candida infections in the vaginal and oral mucosa. A single oral dose is often effective in uncomplicated cases.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Esophageal Candidiasis
Commonly prescribed for patients with confirmed esophageal Candida infections, relieving painful swallowing and retrosternal burning. Often used in HIV/AIDS or immunocompromised individuals.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Cryptococcal Meningitis
Serves as long-term maintenance therapy following initial Amphotericin B treatment, especially in HIV/AIDS and other immunocompromised populations. Prevents relapse of fungal meningitis.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Systemic Fungal Infections
Effective against invasive candidiasis affecting the bloodstream, urinary tract, and internal organs. Oral administration supports treatment in outpatient settings.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Dermatophytosis & Tinea Infections
Treats fungal skin infections including athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. Preferred over topical agents in recurrent or widespread cases.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Coccidioidomycosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis
Recommended for non-CNS and mild-to-moderate CNS fungal infections, particularly in patients with travel history or exposure in endemic regions.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Onychomycosis
Used as a long-term weekly oral therapy for fungal nail infections. Ensures higher compliance and effectiveness compared to daily topical treatments.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Fungal Prophylaxis in Immunocompromised Patients
Administered in low doses over extended periods to prevent fungal infections in chemotherapy patients, transplant recipients, or individuals with HIV/AIDS.
Adults
• Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg single oral dose. For recurrent infections, 150 mg once weekly for 6 months.
• Oral Thrush: 200 mg on Day 1, then 100 mg daily for 7–14 days.
• Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg on Day 1, then 100–400 mg daily for ≥3 weeks.
• Candidemia / Systemic Candida: 800 mg loading dose, then 400–800 mg daily. Duration depends on organ involvement.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: 400–800 mg daily for induction, followed by 200 mg daily for maintenance.
• Onychomycosis: 150–300 mg once weekly for 3–12 months.
• Fungal Prophylaxis: 200–800 mg daily, adjusted based on risk level.
Pediatrics
• Oral/Esophageal Candidiasis: ≤2 weeks old – 3 mg/kg every 72 hrs. >2 weeks – 6 mg/kg on Day 1, then 3–6 mg/kg daily.
• Candidemia/Systemic Infections: 6–12 mg/kg/day for at least 14 days after negative culture.
• CNS Infections: 6–12 mg/kg/day until full resolution.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: Immunocompetent – 6 mg/kg/day. Immunocompromised – 10–12 mg/kg/day, with maintenance therapy as indicated.
