Sebifin Cream - 30g contains terbinafine hydrochloride, a potent topical allylamine antifungal formulated to treat a wide range of superficial fungal skin infections. It acts by selectively inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, a key step in fungal ergosterol biosynthesis. This results in depletion of ergosterol, a vital cell membrane component, and toxic accumulation of squalene within fungal cells, ultimately causing their death. Sebifin Cream is effective in providing rapid relief from symptoms such as itching, redness, scaling, and discomfort, while significantly reducing recurrence risk when treatment is completed as prescribed. The cream’s smooth, non-greasy texture allows for comfortable application to affected areas, including folds and moisture-prone regions. Off-label, it is also utilized in dermatology to prevent secondary fungal colonization in post-acne skin, promoting better healing outcomes and reducing inflammation.

Terbinafine hydrochloride is fungicidal against most dermatophytes and shows fungistatic or fungicidal activity against certain yeasts and molds. By blocking squalene epoxidase, it disrupts the fungal cell membrane’s structural integrity and function, leading to irreversible cell damage. Topical delivery achieves high local concentrations at the site of infection with negligible systemic absorption, ensuring both efficacy and safety for extended use when indicated.
Tinea Corporis: Apply a thin layer of cream, gel, or spray to the affected area and a small margin of surrounding skin once daily (adults and children ≥12 years). Tinea Cruris: Apply once daily to clean, dry skin using cream, gel, or spray. Tinea Pedis: - Cream/Spray: Apply twice daily, morning and evening. - Gel: Apply once daily. Tinea Versicolor: Apply terbinafine solution twice daily to affected skin until symptoms resolve. General advice: Wash and dry the area thoroughly before application. Use enough product to cover the lesion and about 2 cm of surrounding skin. Continue treatment for the entire recommended duration even if symptoms improve earlier, to avoid recurrence. Avoid contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, and broken skin.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.
Common: Mild itching, redness, burning, or peeling at the application site. Rare but serious: Allergic contact dermatitis, blistering, severe irritation. Stop use and seek medical advice if significant swelling, rash, or hypersensitivity symptoms occur.
