Konaqueen 100 contains Fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent effective against a wide spectrum of fungal pathogens. It works by inhibiting lanosterol 14α-demethylase, an enzyme crucial for ergosterol synthesis, thereby disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity and causing impaired growth and replication.
With high oral bioavailability, a long elimination half-life, and strong tissue penetration, Fluconazole achieves reliable therapeutic levels in the bloodstream, mucosal sites, skin, and other deep tissues.
Konaqueen 100 is indicated for the treatment of systemic and mucosal fungal infections, including candidiasis, cryptococcosis, and dermatophytosis, and may also be considered in prophylaxis for high-risk or immunocompromised patients.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Vaginal & Oral Candidiasis
Rapidly relieves vaginal itching, discharge, and oral discomfort due to Candida infections. Often effective with a single oral dose for uncomplicated cases.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Esophageal Candidiasis
Treats esophageal Candida infections, alleviating dysphagia and retrosternal pain, especially in HIV/AIDS patients.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Cryptococcal Meningitis
Used for long-term suppression after initial amphotericin B therapy, preventing recurrence in immunocompromised patients.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Systemic Fungal Infections
Effective against invasive candidiasis of the bloodstream, lungs, and urinary tract. Oral administration enables treatment in outpatient settings.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Dermatophytosis & Tinea Infections
Manages skin fungal infections such as athlete's foot and ringworm. Preferred in recurrent or widespread cases.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Coccidioidomycosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis
Recommended for pulmonary and non-CNS systemic fungal infections. Often part of long-term outpatient regimens.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Onychomycosis
Provides a weekly oral therapy option for fungal nail infections. Improves patient compliance compared to topical antifungals.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Fungal Prophylaxis in Immunocompromised Patients
Used to prevent Candida infections in high-risk groups, including cancer patients and transplant recipients.
Key Benefits / Mechanism
• Broad-spectrum fungistatic activity against Candida, Cryptococcus, and dermatophytes.
• Inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis, disrupting cell membrane integrity and function.
• Demonstrates strong penetration into the CNS and urinary tract, enabling use in meningitis and urinary fungal infections.
• Effective for both acute treatment and long-term maintenance therapy, particularly in immunocompromised patients.
Adults
• Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg orally once for uncomplicated infection; 150 mg weekly for 6 months for recurrent cases.
• Oral Thrush: 200 mg on Day 1, then 100 mg daily for 7–14 days; up to 200 mg daily in severe cases.
• Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg on Day 1, then 100–400 mg daily for ≥3 weeks.
• Systemic Candidiasis: 800 mg loading dose on Day 1, then 400 mg daily; extend up to 6–12 months if deep organ involvement.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: 400–800 mg daily for induction, followed by 200 mg daily for maintenance.
• Onychomycosis: 150–300 mg weekly for 3–12 months.
• Other Deep Mycoses (Coccidioidomycosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis): 400–800 mg/day for 6–12+ months depending on severity.
Pediatrics
• Oral/Esophageal Candidiasis: ≤2 weeks old – 3 mg/kg every 72 hrs; >2 weeks – 6 mg/kg on Day 1, then 3–6 mg/kg daily.

• CNS/Cardiac Fungal Infections: 6–12 mg/kg/day, often long-term or lifelong in severe cases.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: Immunocompetent – 6 mg/kg/day; Immunocompromised – 10–12 mg/kg/day.
• Prophylaxis: 6 mg/kg/day for long-term prevention. Empiric dosing: 12 mg/kg on Day 1, then 6 mg/kg/day.
