Terbinaforce Cream 1% - 10g contains terbinafine hydrochloride, a potent topical allylamine antifungal agent designed for the effective treatment of superficial fungal infections. By targeting and inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, it disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol—an essential component of fungal cell membranes—leading to accumulation of toxic squalene and eventual fungal cell death. This mechanism allows for rapid symptom relief, reduction of fungal load, and prevention of recurrence. The cream formulation provides an emollient base that soothes irritation and dryness often associated with fungal infections. Off-label, it is occasionally used in post-acne care to prevent secondary fungal colonization and aid in the recovery of inflamed or damaged skin.

Terbinafine hydrochloride works by selectively inhibiting fungal squalene epoxidase, halting the production of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane. This results in structural instability, loss of membrane function, and eventual cell death. It is fungicidal against most dermatophytes and has fungistatic or fungicidal activity against certain yeasts and molds. The topical formulation ensures high concentrations at the site of infection with minimal systemic absorption, making it both effective and well-tolerated.
Tinea Corporis: Apply a thin layer of cream, gel, or spray to the affected area and surrounding skin once daily for the prescribed duration (adults and children ≥12 years). Tinea Cruris: Apply once daily using cream, gel, or spray to clean, dry skin. Tinea Pedis: - Cream/Spray: Apply twice daily, morning and evening. - Gel: Apply once daily. Tinea Versicolor: Apply terbinafine solution twice daily to affected areas until resolution. General advice: Wash and thoroughly dry the affected area before application. Use enough to cover both the lesion and a small margin of surrounding skin. Continue treatment for the full recommended period even if symptoms improve earlier to prevent recurrence. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.
Common: Mild redness, itching, burning, or peeling at the application site. Rare but serious: Allergic contact dermatitis, severe local irritation, blistering. Discontinue use and seek medical advice if significant irritation or allergic reactions occur.
