Forcan 50 contains Fluconazole, a systemic triazole antifungal widely prescribed for both superficial and systemic fungal infections. It works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, impairing fungal cell membrane synthesis and leading to cell death. Its high oral bioavailability and broad spectrum make it suitable for various clinical settings, from uncomplicated candidiasis to life-threatening systemic mycoses.
- Antibiotics & Infections > Vaginal & Oral Candidiasis Relieves itching, discharge, and discomfort caused by Candida infections in the vaginal or oral mucosa. Commonly treated with a single oral dose in uncomplicated cases. > Esophageal Candidiasis Used for Candida infections of the esophagus, often in patients with immunosuppression. Improves symptoms such as dysphagia and substernal pain, and prevents progression to systemic infection. > Cryptococcal Meningitis Essential in maintenance therapy for cryptococcal meningitis, especially in HIV-positive individuals. Used after induction with Amphotericin B to prevent relapse. > Systemic Fungal Infections Effective in treating invasive candidiasis affecting bloodstream, kidneys, lungs, and other organs. Oral administration makes it suitable for outpatient follow-up. > Dermatophytosis & Tinea Infections Prescribed for fungal skin infections including athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. Offers better compliance than topical therapies, especially in widespread or recurrent infections. > Coccidioidomycosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis Recommended for mild to moderate cases of endemic fungal diseases. Useful in patients with travel history to high-risk regions or in immunocompromised hosts. > Onychomycosis Long-term weekly treatment option for nail fungal infections. Oral fluconazole penetrates the nail bed better than topical agents. > Fungal Prophylaxis in Immunocompromised Patients Low-dose fluconazole prevents fungal infections in patients with compromised immune systems, such as those undergoing chemotherapy, transplant, or living with HIV/AIDS.
