Azicip 500 contains Azithromycin 500mg, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal system, urinary tract, and skin. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing bacteria from growing and multiplying, ultimately leading to their elimination. Due to its extended tissue penetration and long half-life, Azicip 500 allows for shorter treatment durations with once-daily dosing, enhancing patient compliance. It is commonly used in respiratory tract infections, certain STIs, and skin/soft tissue infections, especially in patients unable to take beta-lactam antibiotics. Azithromycin does not require combination with beta-lactamase inhibitors like Clavulanic Acid, but remains a preferred option in resistance-sensitive treatment plans due to its unique pharmacokinetic profile.
Azithromycin is commonly prescribed worldwide for the treatment of gonorrhea and chlamydia, both of which are well-recognized bacterial causes of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Chlamydia (Urethritis & Cervicitis caused by *Chlamydia trachomatis*) - Take 2 tablets of AZITHROMYCIN-500MG (total 1,000mg) in a single dose. - Do not split or stagger the intake; consume both tablets at once. - This one-time treatment is sufficient, with its effects lasting for about 10 days. Gonorrhea (Urethritis & Cervicitis caused by *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*) - In adults, treatment begins with an Azithromycin injection, followed by an oral dose of AZITHROMYCIN-500MG once per day. - In some regions, a single dose of 4 tablets of AZITHROMYCIN-500MG (total 2,000mg) is used. - Take the full 4-tablet dose at once, without dividing it throughout the day. Common Bacterial Infections (*Skin infections, lymphangitis, lymphadenitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, periodontal infections, pericoronitis, jaw inflammation*) - Take 1 tablet of AZITHROMYCIN-500MG (total 500mg) once per day for three days, totaling 3 tablets (1,500mg) for the full course. - The antibacterial effect continues for approximately 7 days. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID, including gonorrhea-related cases) - Treatment starts with an Azithromycin injection, followed by ½ tablet of AZITHROMYCIN-500MG (total 250mg) once per day. Optimizing Treatment Effectiveness - Azithromycin is available in 100mg, 250mg, 500mg, and 1,000mg strengths. - Avoid breaking or crushing the tablets; choose the appropriate dosage based on the condition being treated. - If symptoms do not improve or worsen after four days, consider switching to a different medication. - In urethritis or cervicitis cases, monitor the patient’s condition for 2–4 weeks after starting Azithromycin to evaluate effectiveness.
