Candid Cream 50g contains clotrimazole, a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal agent formulated for external application. It works by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, causing disruption of membrane structure, leakage of essential components, and eventual fungal cell death. The cream base provides both therapeutic antifungal action and skin hydration, making it particularly suitable for dry, irritated, or sensitive skin areas affected by fungal infections. It is effective against dermatophytes, Candida species, and Malassezia, and is also sometimes incorporated into dermatological regimens for post-acne skin maintenance and pigmentation control.

Clotrimazole targets the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase, blocking ergosterol biosynthesis. Without ergosterol, fungal cell membranes lose integrity, leading to cellular dysfunction and death. The cream’s emollient base supports barrier repair and skin comfort, making it suitable for use even on delicate areas like the groin or folds.
For tinea corporis: Apply a thin, even layer to affected and surrounding skin twice daily for 4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea cruris: Apply twice daily for 2 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea pedis: Apply twice daily for 4–8 weeks (adults and children >3 years), paying attention to areas between toes and ensuring skin is clean and dry before application. For cutaneous candidiasis: Apply twice daily for 2–4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea versicolor: Apply twice daily for 2–4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For vaginal candidiasis (using clotrimazole vaginal forms): - Regimen 1: 100 mg suppository once daily × 7 days ± 1% cream twice daily × 7 days - Regimen 2: 200 mg suppository once daily × 3 days ± 1% cream twice daily × 7 days - Regimen 3: 500 mg suppository single dose - Regimen 4: 1 applicatorful 1% vaginal cream once daily × 7 days - Regimen 5: 1 applicatorful 2% vaginal cream once daily × 3 days Three- and seven-day regimens are equally effective; the 3-day regimen may improve compliance. If a single 500 mg dose fails, follow with a 3- or 7-day regimen. In cases of recurrent infection, especially in immunocompromised patients such as those with HIV, maintenance therapy with weekly or monthly suppositories can be considered. Pediatric dosing (>12 years) follows the adult schedule. General guidance: Clean and thoroughly dry the affected skin before application. Continue treatment for the full course even if symptoms resolve earlier. Avoid eye contact and mucous membranes. If a dose is missed, apply as soon as possible unless it is close to the next scheduled dose.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Common: Mild burning, stinging, itching, or redness at the application site. Rare but serious: Allergic contact dermatitis, swelling, blistering. Stop use and seek medical attention if severe irritation or hypersensitivity occurs.
