Forcan 150 contains Fluconazole, a potent triazole antifungal agent widely used for the treatment and prevention of a diverse range of fungal infections. It exerts fungistatic activity by inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme 14α-demethylase, thereby disrupting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes.
- Antibiotics & Infections > Vaginal & Oral Candidiasis Rapidly relieves symptoms such as itching, discharge, inflammation, and white patches associated with mucosal Candida infections. A single-dose oral treatment is often sufficient for uncomplicated vaginal candidiasis. > Esophageal Candidiasis Recommended for esophageal Candida infections diagnosed endoscopically, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. Improves swallowing difficulty and retrosternal pain. > Cryptococcal Meningitis Essential part of long-term antifungal therapy in HIV/AIDS and other immunocompromised populations. Initially used with Amphotericin B, then transitioned to fluconazole for consolidation and maintenance. > Systemic Fungal Infections Effective against disseminated candidiasis involving the bloodstream, lungs, kidneys, and urinary tract. Enables outpatient treatment through oral administration. > Dermatophytosis & Tinea Infections Treats fungal skin infections like athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. Suitable for patients with widespread or recurrent superficial fungal infections. > Endemic Mycoses (Coccidioidomycosis, Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis) Used in non-CNS or mild CNS presentations of fungal infections endemic to specific regions. Long-term therapy required. > Onychomycosis Long-term oral therapy option for fungal nail infections. Weekly dosing improves adherence compared to topical treatments. > Fungal Prophylaxis Prevents fungal infections in neutropenic patients, transplant recipients, or those undergoing intensive chemotherapy or HIV/AIDS care.

[Adult Dosage] - Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg orally, single dose - Recurrent Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg weekly for 6 months - Oral Thrush: 200 mg Day 1, then 100 mg daily for 1–2 weeks - Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg Day 1, then 100–400 mg daily for ≥3 weeks - Cryptococcal Meningitis: 400–800 mg/day (induction/consolidation), then 200 mg/day for maintenance - Systemic Candidiasis: 800 mg loading dose, then 400 mg/day for 2+ weeks - Onychomycosis: 150–300 mg weekly for 3–12 months - Endemic Mycoses: 400–800 mg/day for 6–12+ months - Fungal Prophylaxis: 200–800 mg/day depending on risk [Pediatric Dosage] - Mucosal Candida: ≤2 weeks old: 3 mg/kg q72h; >2 weeks: 6 mg/kg Day 1, then 3–6 mg/kg/day - Systemic Candida: 6–12 mg/kg/day for 2 weeks post-clearance - CNS Infections: 6–12 mg/kg/day until resolution - Cryptococcus (immunocompetent): 12 mg/kg Day 1, then 6 mg/kg/day - Cryptococcus (immunocompromised): 12 mg/kg Day 1, then 10–12 mg/kg/day; 6 mg/kg/day for maintenance - Fungal Prophylaxis: 6–12 mg/kg/day (adjust by scenario) - Max dose typically: 800 mg/day
