Levotop 500 is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic containing Levofloxacin 500mg, manufactured by Ajanta Pharma. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections affecting the respiratory system, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues. Levofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial replication and survival. This medication is particularly effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including multi-drug-resistant strains.
