Konaqueen 150 contains Fluconazole, a potent triazole antifungal with broad-spectrum fungistatic activity. It works by interfering with fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, thereby inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, which is essential for maintaining fungal cell membrane integrity. The disruption of ergosterol leads to cellular leakage and fungal cell death.
With excellent oral bioavailability and deep tissue penetration, Fluconazole achieves therapeutic concentrations in the bloodstream, mucous membranes, skin, and other tissues. These properties make Konaqueen 150 effective for treating a wide range of systemic, mucosal, and dermal mycoses, including candidiasis, cryptococcosis, and dermatophytic infections.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Vaginal & Oral Candidiasis
Used for the rapid resolution of itching, discharge, and mucosal inflammation caused by Candida species. A single 150 mg dose is commonly effective for uncomplicated cases.
• Antibiotics & Infections > Esophageal Candidiasis
Indicated for esophageal fungal infections, particularly in HIV/AIDS or other immunocompromised patients. Provides relief from odynophagia and mucosal ulceration.

Employed as long-term maintenance therapy after Amphotericin B induction in cryptococcal meningoencephalitis, especially in immunosuppressed individuals.

Adults
• Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg single oral dose. Recurrent cases: 150 mg once weekly for 6 months.
• Oral Thrush: 200 mg on day 1, followed by 100 mg daily for 7–14 days.
• Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg initially, then 100–400 mg daily for ≥3 weeks.
• Candidemia/Systemic Candida Infections: 800 mg loading dose, then 400–800 mg daily for 2–12 weeks.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: Induction – 400–800 mg/day; Consolidation – 400–800 mg/day; Maintenance – 200 mg/day.
• Onychomycosis: 150–300 mg once weekly for 3–12 months.
• Prophylaxis: 200–800 mg/day depending on risk profile.
Pediatrics
• Neonates ≤2 weeks: 3 mg/kg every 72 hours.
• Children >2 weeks: 6 mg/kg on day 1, followed by 3–6 mg/kg daily.
• Oral/Esophageal Thrush: 6–12 mg/kg/day.
• Disseminated or CNS Infections: up to 12 mg/kg/day.
• Cryptococcal Meningitis: Induction/Consolidation – 10–12 mg/kg/day; Maintenance – 6 mg/kg/day.
• Prophylaxis: 6 mg/kg/day for high-risk pediatric populations.
Store at room temperature (15–30°C), away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
Common: nausea, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rash.
Less common: elevated liver enzymes, QT prolongation, dizziness.
Rare: anaphylaxis, hepatotoxicity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
