Forcan 200 is a fluconazole-based oral antifungal tablet used to treat systemic and mucosal fungal infections. Its 200mg strength makes it suitable for moderate to severe candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, and prophylaxis in immunocompromised individuals.
- Antibiotics & Infections > Systemic and Mucosal Fungal Infections This product targets fungal infections in the blood, esophagus, respiratory tract, genitourinary system, and CNS. It is commonly used for esophageal candidiasis, disseminated candidemia, and maintenance therapy in cryptococcal meningitis. Especially useful in HIV/AIDS patients and individuals undergoing immunosuppressive treatment.
- Broad-spectrum antifungal activity - Effective against Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans - Penetrates well into CSF, urine, and peritoneal fluid - Suitable for long-term suppressive therapy
• Adult Use: - Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg on Day 1, then 100 mg/day for ≥3 weeks - Cryptococcal Meningitis: 400 mg Day 1, then 200–800 mg/day; maintenance: 200 mg/day for 6–12 months - Systemic Candidiasis: Loading dose 800 mg, then 400 mg/day - Candida UTI or Peritonitis: 50–400 mg/day depending on severity - Coccidioidomycosis: 400–800 mg/day for 3–12+ months - Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis, Sporotrichosis: 200–800 mg/day based on infection site • Pediatric Use: - Esophageal Candidiasis: >2 weeks: 6 mg/kg Day 1, then 3 mg/kg/day - Systemic Candidiasis: 6–12 mg/kg/day for ≥14 days post-culture - CNS Infections: 6–12 mg/kg/day until resolution - Cryptococcal Meningitis (Immunocompromised): 12 mg/kg Day 1, then 10–12 mg/kg/day; maintenance 6 mg/kg/day ≥1 year - Coccidioidal Meningitis: 12 mg/kg/day; lifelong prophylaxis 6 mg/kg/day
