Candid Lotion contains clotrimazole, an imidazole-class antifungal agent for topical use. It inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, leading to loss of membrane integrity and resolution of superficial infections. Indicated for a broad range of cutaneous mycoses and sometimes leveraged in dermatology for post-acne maintenance when fungal overgrowth is suspected.

Clotrimazole inhibits fungal 14α-demethylase (CYP51), blocking ergosterol production and disrupting cell membrane structure and function. This local action increases membrane permeability, impairs vital processes, and results in fungal cell death. Effective against Candida spp., dermatophytes, and Malassezia species on the skin surface.
For tinea corporis: Apply a thin layer to affected and surrounding skin twice daily for 4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea cruris: Apply twice daily for 2 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea pedis: Apply twice daily for 4–8 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For cutaneous candidiasis: Apply twice daily for 2–4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For tinea versicolor: Apply twice daily for 2–4 weeks (adults and children >3 years). For vaginal candidiasis: - Option 1: 100 mg suppository once daily × 7 days ± 1% cream twice daily × 7 days - Option 2: 200 mg suppository once daily × 3 days ± 1% cream twice daily × 7 days - Option 3: 500 mg suppository single dose - Option 4: 1 applicatorful 1% vaginal cream once daily × 7 days - Option 5: 1 applicatorful 2% vaginal cream once daily × 3 days Three- and seven-day regimens show comparable efficacy; 3-day courses may improve adherence. If a single 500 mg dose fails, switch to a 3- or 7-day regimen. For recurrent disease, scheduled suppositories may be considered in select immunocompromised patients. General advice: cleanse and dry skin before application; continue for the full course even after symptom relief; avoid eye contact; if a dose is missed, apply when remembered unless close to the next dose.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep the cap tightly closed and do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Common: Mild burning, stinging, erythema, pruritus at the application site. Less common but serious: Allergic contact dermatitis, severe swelling or blistering. Discontinue and seek medical advice if marked irritation, rash, or signs of hypersensitivity occur.
