- Okacet 10 helps manage hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion. It also relieves itching and inflammation from atopic dermatitis, and improves eye irritation caused by allergic conjunctivitis. - Additionally, its mild sedative effects can support better sleep quality in patients with allergy-induced insomnia.
- Cetirizine selectively blocks peripheral H1 receptors to reduce the effects of histamine release, thereby controlling allergic responses in the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes. - Its long half-life ensures consistent relief with a single daily dose.
ALLERGY > Hay Fever - Cetirizine effectively relieves seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and itchy eyes. - Dosage: Adults & children ≥12 years: 10mg once daily (1 tablet). - If drowsiness occurs, divide into 5mg twice daily. - Children 6–12 years: 5mg twice daily (half tablet). - Not recommended for children under 6. - Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with kidney or liver impairment. - Administration: Take with water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. - If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it's close to the next dose. Do not double up. - Use consistently for optimal symptom control. ALLERGY > Atopic Dermatitis - As an oral antihistamine, Cetirizine helps reduce pruritus (itching) and inflammation in patients with atopic dermatitis or other allergic skin conditions. - Dosage & Administration: Follow the same dosage as above. - Consistent daily use helps maintain antihistaminic effect and control flare-ups. - Avoid triggers such as allergens or irritants alongside medication. ALLERGY > Conjunctivitis - Provides systemic relief from symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis such as itchy, watery, or red eyes. - Dosage & Administration: Dosing remains the same as for general allergic use. - Can be taken alongside prescribed eye drops for enhanced relief. - Avoid eye rubbing and environmental allergens when possible. SLEEP & MENTAL HEALTH > Insomnia / Sleeping Aids (Off-label Benefit) - While Cetirizine is not primarily a sleep aid, its sedative properties may be beneficial in individuals who experience mild insomnia. - Dosage & Administration: For nighttime use, 10mg may be taken before bed, particularly if daytime drowsiness is not a concern. - Do not combine with alcohol or other sedating agents. - Use under medical supervision if intended for sleep support.
