Elata 5 contains 5 mg of Ulipristal Acetate, a selective progesterone receptor modulator (SPRM) primarily used for the treatment of uterine fibroids. At the 5 mg dosage, it is specifically indicated for pre-operative and intermittent treatment of moderate to severe uterine fibroid symptoms in adult women of reproductive age. Ulipristal modulates progesterone receptors in the uterus, reducing fibroid size and associated bleeding, and improving anemia without causing full estrogen suppression, thereby preserving bone density and maintaining hormonal balance.
AntiCancer Drugs > Uterine Fibroids (Pre-operative or Intermittent Treatment)
Indicated for the management of moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids in women of reproductive age. Particularly useful when surgical intervention is planned or when repeated short-term treatment is preferred. Ulipristal Acetate significantly reduces fibroid volume and bleeding by modulating progesterone receptors in uterine tissue.
PILLS & CONTRACEPTION > Emergency Contraception (Higher Dose - 30 mg)
Ulipristal Acetate 30 mg is used as a single-dose emergency contraceptive to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Effective up to 120 hours post-intercourse, it delays ovulation and alters endometrial receptivity. The 5 mg dose is not intended for contraceptive use.
Uterine Fibroids: 5 mg orally once daily, with or without food. Treatment duration: up to 3 months per course. Re-treatment can be initiated after a drug-free interval and menstruation resumption. Monitor liver function before, during, and after treatment due to hepatotoxicity risk. Do not use more than two treatment courses unless under specialist supervision.
Emergency Contraception (Different strength: 30 mg): Single 30 mg dose orally as soon as possible, within 120 hours after unprotected sex. If vomiting occurs within 3 hours, consider re-dosing. Effective throughout the menstrual cycle; not recommended for routine contraception.
• Important Notes
Confirm absence of pregnancy before starting treatment. Not recommended for women with severe liver disease. Discontinue upon signs of liver injury (fatigue, jaundice, dark urine). Not indicated for long-term use or continuous therapy.
