- Sleep & Mental Health > Epilepsy Levipil XR 750 is indicated for the treatment of partial onset seizures, myoclonic seizures in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in idiopathic generalized epilepsy. > Depression, Anxiety, PTSD In patients with epilepsy, levetiracetam may provide additional mood-stabilizing benefits, helping manage comorbid anxiety and depressive symptoms. > Schizophrenia While not officially approved, research suggests off-label potential in supporting emotional regulation and cognitive stability in schizophrenia patients. > ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) In cases where epilepsy coexists with ADHD, Levipil XR 750 may contribute to improved focus and impulse control, especially when standard medications are insufficient or contraindicated.
Levetiracetam binds to the synaptic vesicle protein SV2A, modulating neurotransmitter release and reducing abnormal neuronal firing. This unique mechanism helps suppress seizure activity across various epilepsy syndromes and contributes to a neuroprotective and mood-stabilizing profile in select patients.
Usual Adult Dose for Epilepsy (Extended-Release): - Initial dose: 1000 mg orally once daily - Titrate: Increase in increments of 1000 mg every 2 weeks based on efficacy and tolerability - Maintenance dose: 1000 to 3000 mg orally once daily - Maximum dose: 3000 mg/day Usual Adult Dose for Seizures (Extended-Release): - Initial dose: 1000 mg orally once daily - Titrate: Increase by 1000 mg at 2-week intervals if needed - Maintenance dose: 1000 to 3000 mg/day - Note: Effectiveness of doses >3000 mg/day is not established Usual Pediatric Dose for Epilepsy (Extended-Release): - 12 years or older: - Start: 1000 mg orally once daily - Titrate: Increase by 1000 mg every 2 weeks - Maintenance: 1000 to 3000 mg once daily - Max: 3000 mg/day Myoclonic Seizures (12+ years): - 500 mg twice a day, increasing by 500 mg every 2 weeks as needed - Max: 3000 mg/day Primary Generalized Tonic-Clonic Seizures: - 6 to <16 years: 10 mg/kg twice a day, max 30 mg/kg twice a day - 16 years+: 500 mg twice a day, increase as tolerated, max 1500 mg twice a day
Store in a dry, cool place below 30°C. Keep the tablets away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Ensure the medication is out of reach of children. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use before the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, and behavioral changes.
