Axepta 25 is a generic formulation containing atomoxetine 25mg, a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI) used in the treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Unlike stimulant medications, Axepta 25 provides therapeutic benefits without directly influencing dopamine levels, making it an appropriate option for patients at risk of substance misuse or those with coexisting anxiety or sleep disorders. Its once-daily dosing supports adherence and provides consistent symptom relief throughout the day.
- Sleep & Mental Health > ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Axepta 25 helps to improve concentration, reduce impulsivity, and manage hyperactivity. It is particularly effective for patients who cannot tolerate stimulant-based therapies or have shown suboptimal response to first-line ADHD medications. It is suitable for both children and adults, and can be integrated into long-term treatment plans as part of a comprehensive ADHD management strategy.
- Inhibits norepinephrine reuptake in the prefrontal cortex, enhancing attention, working memory, and executive function. - Does not promote dopamine spikes, resulting in a lower risk of addiction or abuse. - May also alleviate secondary symptoms such as emotional instability, restlessness, and disrupted sleep. - Especially beneficial for patients with comorbid anxiety, tics, or substance use risk. - Gradual onset reduces rebound effects and promotes emotional regulation over time.
- Adults (Over 70 kg): - Initial: 40 mg/day orally - Maintenance: 80 mg/day after minimum 3 days - Max: Up to 100 mg/day if optimal response is not achieved after 2–4 additional weeks - Pediatrics (≤70 kg): - Initial: 0.5 mg/kg/day - Maintenance: 1.2 mg/kg/day after 3 days - Max: 1.4 mg/kg/day or 100 mg/day, whichever is lower - Administration Tips: - Take once daily in the morning or as two divided doses (morning and late afternoon). - Dose adjustment is necessary for hepatic impairment, CYP2D6 inhibition, or poor metabolizers. - Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew.
- Store in a dry, cool environment at a temperature range of 15–25°C. - Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. - Keep out of reach of children and pets. - Do not store in bathrooms or near heat sources.
- Common Side Effects: - Nausea, decreased appetite, dry mouth, fatigue, insomnia, dizziness - Less Common but Serious: - Increased blood pressure or heart rate - Liver enzyme elevations (rare), suicidal thoughts (especially in children/adolescents) - Urinary hesitation or difficulty - Report sudden mood changes, agitation, or behavioral concerns to a healthcare provider immediately.
