Sizodon 2 is a high-strength generic risperidone tablet intended for the treatment of complex psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and autism-related behavioral symptoms. As a second-generation antipsychotic, it provides strong dopamine and serotonin receptor antagonism, delivering symptom relief with a comparatively lower risk of extrapyramidal side effects.

It is effective for both acute symptom control and long-term relapse prevention. > Bipolar Disorder In individuals with bipolar disorder, risperidone is used to reduce manic symptoms, control emotional instability, and prevent recurrence. It can be used alone or as adjunct therapy with mood stabilizers. > Autism Risperidone is FDA-approved for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder who present with severe irritability, aggressive outbursts, or self-injurious behavior, offering measurable improvement in behavior regulation. > Depression, Anxiety, PTSD Though not a primary indication, risperidone is sometimes prescribed off-label alongside antidepressants to enhance their effect, especially in cases with severe anxiety, insomnia, or PTSD-related agitation.
Risperidone works by blocking dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors in the brain. This dual mechanism reduces psychotic symptoms while modulating mood and aggression, resulting in comprehensive psychiatric stabilization with a lower likelihood of motor side effects.
Adult Dosing: - Schizophrenia (oral): Start 2 mg/day → Increase 1–2 mg/day at ≥24-hour intervals → Maintenance: 2–8 mg/day → Max: 16 mg/day - Schizophrenia (long-acting IM): 25 mg IM every 2 weeks → Titrate to 37.5 or 50 mg (≥4-week intervals) → Continue oral risperidone for 3 weeks after the first dose - Bipolar Disorder (oral): Start 2–3 mg/day → Titrate by 1 mg/day at ≥24-hour intervals → Max: 6 mg/day - Bipolar Disorder (long-acting IM): Same as schizophrenia IM → Used as monotherapy or with lithium/valproate Geriatric Dosing: - Oral: Start 0.5 mg twice daily → Increase cautiously → Maintenance: 2–8 mg/day → Max: 16 mg/day - Long-acting IM: Same as adult IM protocol → Monitor more closely for hypotension and sedation Pediatric Dosing: - Schizophrenia (≥13 years): Start 0.5 mg/day → Titrate by 0.5–1 mg/day every ≥24 hours → Maintenance: 3 mg/day → Max: 6 mg/day - Bipolar Disorder (≥10 years): Same as pediatric schizophrenia → Effective dose: 1–2.5 mg/day - Autism (5–17 years): • 15–20 kg: Start 0.25 mg/day → Increase to 0.5 mg after ≥4 days → Titrate +0.25 mg every 2+ weeks • ≥20 kg: Start 0.5 mg/day → Increase to 1 mg after ≥4 days → Titrate +0.5 mg every 2+ weeks • Target range: 0.5–3 mg/day → Flexible once/twice-daily dosing based on sedation

Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, weight gain, increased appetite, and dry mouth. Some individuals may experience extrapyramidal symptoms such as muscle stiffness or tremor, especially at higher doses. Hyperprolactinemia, constipation, restlessness, and insomnia are also reported. Long-term use may lead to metabolic changes, requiring periodic monitoring of glucose and lipids.
