Novelon Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive containing 0.03 mg of Ethinyl Estradiol and 0.15 mg of Desogestrel per tablet. This formulation offers highly reliable contraception through multiple mechanisms: inhibition of ovulation, thickening of cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration, and stabilization of the endometrial lining to prevent implantation. 1. Indication: - Indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in adult and postmenarchal females 2. Oral Tablet Dosage: - Take 1 tablet by mouth once daily at the same time each day - Follow the sequence indicated on the blister pack without deviation - Choose a start method: - Day 1 Start: Begin on the first day of menstruation for immediate efficacy - Sunday Start: Begin on the first Sunday after menstruation begins; use backup contraception for 7 days - Do not delay or miss doses by more than 24 hours 3. Transdermal Patch Dosage (if applicable): - Apply 1 patch per week for 3 consecutive weeks - Do not use a patch during Week 4 to allow withdrawal bleeding - Restart a new patch cycle on Week 5 4. Special Considerations: - Initiate transdermal therapy within 24 hours of menstrual onset for best results - Not recommended for patients with BMI ≥30 kg/m² due to reduced efficacy and higher VTE risk - Caution advised for BMI 25–30 kg/m² with consideration of alternative methods
