Admenta 10 is a generic version of memantine 10mg, an NMDA receptor antagonist prescribed for patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. It works by protecting nerve cells from damage caused by excessive levels of glutamate—a neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory. This protective mechanism helps slow cognitive decline and stabilize neurological function in individuals suffering from neurodegenerative conditions. As Alzheimer’s progresses into more advanced stages, glutamatergic overstimulation becomes more pronounced, and Admenta 10 provides targeted relief by reducing neuronal excitotoxicity. Unlike acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, which increase acetylcholine levels, memantine focuses on regulating glutamate activity, making it an effective component in combination therapy. Admenta 10 is also used in broader dementia cases, such as vascular or mixed-type dementia, where it can ease behavioral disturbances like confusion, aggression, or disorientation. Its long-term tolerability and non-addictive nature make it ideal for elderly populations needing extended cognitive support.

Memantine 10mg acts by selectively blocking NMDA receptors in the brain to prevent overstimulation by glutamate. By modulating glutamatergic transmission, it prevents abnormal calcium influx that leads to cell death, offering neuroprotection in degenerative conditions. This action supports memory, reasoning, and orientation in patients experiencing progressive mental decline. Admenta 10 is suitable for use alone or in combination with cholinesterase inhibitors like donepezil, and it does not cause dependence even with prolonged administration.
The recommended starting dose of memantine hydrochloride is 5 mg once daily. → Gradually increase in 5 mg steps at intervals of at least 1 week: - 10 mg/day (5 mg twice daily) - 15 mg/day (5 mg and 10 mg separately) - 20 mg/day (10 mg twice daily – target dose proven effective in clinical studies) May be taken with or without food. If a single dose is missed, skip it and take the next dose as scheduled. If several doses are missed, the dose may need to be resumed from a lower level and retitrated according to clinical guidelines. Renal Impairment: → In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance 5–29 mL/min): recommended dose is 5 mg twice daily Hepatic Impairment: → Use with caution in patients with severe liver dysfunction
