Rizact 10 Tablet is a potent anti-migraine medication containing 10 mg of Rizatriptan Benzoate, a selective serotonin 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist. It belongs to the triptan class of drugs and is designed for the acute treatment of migraine attacks. Rizatriptan works by constricting intracranial blood vessels and inhibiting the release of inflammatory neuropeptides from trigeminal nerves, leading to rapid relief of headache, nausea, photophobia, and phonophobia. This higher 10 mg dose is clinically shown to provide superior pain freedom compared to 5 mg, though it may carry a slightly increased risk of side effects. It can be used with or without aura and is most effective when taken at the earliest sign of symptoms. The orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) format is ideal for patients who experience vomiting or delayed gastric emptying during migraine episodes.

Adult Dosage: - Initial dose: 10 mg orally as soon as migraine symptoms appear - If symptoms return, a second 10 mg dose may be taken after a minimum of 2 hours - Maximum dosage: 30 mg in 24 hours Pediatric Dosage (Ages 6+): - <40 kg body weight: 5 mg orally, once daily - ≥40 kg body weight: 10 mg orally, once daily - Maximum: 1 dose in 24 hours Indication: - Acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura Administration Instructions: - Take at the earliest onset of headache for optimal results - May be taken with or without food - Orally disintegrating tablet can be used without water - Not for use in preventing future migraine attacks Precautions: - Not for use in patients with ischemic heart disease, stroke history, or uncontrolled high blood pressure - Do not use within 24 hours of taking another triptan or an ergot-based drug - Reduce dosage if taken with propranolol due to interaction - Avoid using more than 4 times per month unless reevaluated by a physician - Not approved for use in hemiplegic or basilar migraine due to increased stroke risk Pediatric Precautions: - Only approved for children aged 6 years and older with diagnosed migraine - Dosing is based on body weight - Safety for multiple doses or daily long-term use in children is not fully established

Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, and tingling sensations. Serious but rare side effects may include chest pain, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, or serotonin syndrome. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
