Suminat 100 Tablet contains 100 mg of Sumatriptan, a potent serotonin (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist from the triptan class, used to relieve acute migraine and cluster headache attacks. It works by constricting dilated cranial blood vessels and blocking pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release, providing rapid relief from headache, nausea, light sensitivity, and sound sensitivity. The 100 mg dose is typically reserved for more severe migraines, offering maximum efficacy in oral triptan therapy. This strength should be used with caution due to a higher likelihood of side effects compared to lower doses.

Usual Adult Dose for Migraine (Oral): - Initial: 25 mg, 50 mg, or 100 mg orally, once - May repeat after 2 hours if necessary - Maximum: 200 mg per 24 hours Usual Adult Dose for Cluster Headache (Subcutaneous): - Initial: 6 mg subcutaneously, once - May repeat after 1 hour if needed - Maximum: 12 mg per 24 hours Intranasal Spray: - Initial: 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg in one nostril - 10 mg dose may be split (5 mg per nostril) - May repeat after 2 hours - Maximum: 40 mg per 24 hours Intranasal Powder via Xsail®: - Dose: 11 mg per nostril (22 mg total) using breath-powered device - May repeat after 2 hours - Maximum: 2 doses (44 mg total) per 24 hours Indications: - Acute treatment of migraine with or without aura - Acute treatment of cluster headache episodes Administration Instructions: - Take at the earliest signs of a migraine or cluster headache - Do not exceed the recommended frequency or combine with other triptans/ergotamines - Not suitable for prophylactic use - Avoid use if you have cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or a history of stroke - For best results, avoid delay in dosing once symptoms begin Precautions: - May cause dizziness, chest discomfort, flushing, or pressure sensations - Do not use with SSRIs, SNRIs, or MAOIs without medical supervision due to serotonin syndrome risk - Contraindicated in hemiplegic, basilar, or ophthalmoplegic migraines - Use cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment - Avoid alcohol and sedatives during treatment window
