Rosulip 20mg contains 20mg of Rosuvastatin, a high-potency statin medication widely used in the management of lipid disorders. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. By doing so, Rosuvastatin significantly lowers LDL-C (bad cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides, while raising HDL-C (good cholesterol). The 20mg dose is considered potent and is commonly prescribed for patients with moderate to severe hyperlipidemia or those requiring aggressive lipid control for cardiovascular risk reduction.
- Lifestyle-related Diseases > Hyperlipidemia An effective treatment for primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and elevated triglycerides. It helps normalize lipid levels and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and vascular complications. Suitable for long-term lipid control strategies. > Cardiovascular Diseases Rosuvastatin 20mg is clinically proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and stroke. It provides plaque stabilization and endothelial protection, making it a valuable option for patients with pre-existing heart conditions or multiple risk factors. > Cerebral Infarction & Myocardial Infarction Prevention This dose is appropriate for patients with a history of cardiovascular events or those at high risk. It improves arterial function, prevents plaque rupture, and decreases systemic inflammation, as indicated by reductions in hsCRP levels.
Rosuvastatin’s long half-life and liver-specific action make it a powerful lipid-lowering agent. It also exhibits pleiotropic benefits such as improved endothelial function, anti-inflammatory effects, and reduced oxidative stress. Unlike some statins, it has minimal interaction with the cytochrome P450 system, lowering the chance of adverse drug interactions. Clinical trials have confirmed its effectiveness in reducing cardiovascular mortality when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
General Hyperlipidemia / Mixed Dyslipidemia / Atherosclerosis / Hypertriglyceridemia: → Initial dose: 10–20 mg once daily → Maintenance dose: 5–40 mg once daily → Maximum dose: 40 mg/day → Lipid levels should be reassessed every 2–4 weeks Hyperlipoproteinemia Type III (Dysbetalipoproteinemia): → Same dosing protocol → Effective in reducing beta-VLDL and IDL levels Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): → Initial dose: 20 mg once daily → Can be increased up to 40 mg/day as needed → May be used in conjunction with LDL apheresis Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD): → For patients without clinical CVD but with multiple risk factors → Ideal dose: 10–20 mg daily → Max dose: 40 mg/day → Target group: Men ≥50, Women ≥60, hsCRP ≥2 mg/L with ≥1 other risk factor Pediatric – Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HeFH): → 8–9 years: 5–10 mg daily (max 10 mg) → 10–17 years: 5–20 mg daily (max 20 mg) → Reassess every ≥4 weeks Pediatric – Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): → ≥7 years: 20 mg daily → May be combined with other lipid-lowering agents Administration Tips: → Take once daily at the same time each day → Can be taken with or without food → Should always be used alongside a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet
