Product Description

Rosulip 5mg contains 5mg of Rosuvastatin, a high-potency statin classified as an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. It is widely used for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular events. Rosuvastatin functions by inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis, which leads to upregulation of LDL receptors and accelerated clearance of circulating LDL particles. The 5mg dose is often selected as a starting point for statin-naïve individuals, patients with mild lipid abnormalities, elderly populations, or pediatric patients requiring precise titration. Rosulip 5 not only reduces LDL cholesterol and triglycerides but also increases HDL levels, contributing to a comprehensive improvement in lipid profile and a significant reduction in cardiovascular risk.

Indications & Uses

- Lifestyle-related Diseases > Hyperlipidemia Indicated for primary hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. Helps lower LDL-C, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and ApoB while increasing HDL-C levels. > Cardiovascular Diseases Used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and the need for revascularization in patients with elevated cardiovascular risk, including those with diabetes or atherosclerosis. > Cerebral Infarction & Myocardial Infarction Prevention Clinically proven to lower the incidence of ischemic stroke and heart attack in high-risk populations, including older adults and those with systemic inflammation or prior vascular events.

Benefits & Effectiveness

Rosuvastatin competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. This leads to a cascade effect resulting in increased LDL receptor expression and enhanced clearance of LDL-C from plasma. Rosuvastatin also lowers triglycerides and raises HDL-C, contributing to a favorable shift in the overall lipid profile. Unlike other statins, Rosuvastatin is not extensively metabolized via CYP450 enzymes, reducing the risk of drug-drug interactions. It is particularly effective in reducing high-sensitivity CRP and promoting plaque stability. The 5mg strength allows for individualized therapy in sensitive groups such as pediatric, geriatric, and renal-impaired patients.
