Bdpoma 4 delivers 4 mg of pomalidomide per capsule, the standard full-dose formulation used in combination therapy for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). As a next-generation immunomodulatory drug (IMiD), pomalidomide enhances immune surveillance, inhibits angiogenesis, and directly suppresses malignant plasma cell proliferation. Its clinical value lies in extending progression-free survival and improving responses in patients resistant to prior regimens. It also plays an important role in Kaposi’s sarcoma treatment, with growing investigational interest in off-label hematologic applications.
AntiCancer Drugs > Relapsed or Refractory Multiple Myeloma
Bdpoma 4 is indicated for patients who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor. In combination with low-dose dexamethasone, it significantly delays disease progression and improves quality of life, even in high-risk patients.
> Triple-Class Refractory MM
Pomalidomide is a salvage-line therapy for patients unresponsive to IMiDs, proteasome inhibitors (PIs), and anti-CD38 antibodies. Its immunomodulatory effects contribute to disease control, especially when combined with agents such as daratumumab or carfilzomib.
> Kaposi’s Sarcoma
For both HIV-positive and HIV-negative Kaposi’s sarcoma, pomalidomide demonstrates potent anti-angiogenic activity against vascular tumors. It is approved for cases unresponsive to HAART, showing lesion regression with tolerable safety.
> Off-Label Use in Lymphomas and Leukemias
Research is ongoing for pomalidomide in T-cell lymphomas, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and other hematologic malignancies where immune dysregulation plays a central role. These uses remain investigational.
Bdpoma 4 enhances IL-2 and IFN-γ production, restoring T-cell and NK cell cytotoxicity. It inhibits inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and VEGF, suppressing angiogenesis that supports tumor growth. These multi-modal mechanisms make it effective in heavily pretreated hematologic patients.
For multiple myeloma, the usual adult dose is 4 mg orally once daily on Days 1–21 of each 28-day cycle. Treatment must be given in combination with dexamethasone and continued until disease progression or the development of unacceptable toxicity.
For Kaposi’s sarcoma, the recommended dose is 5 mg orally once daily on Days 1–21 of each 28-day cycle. Therapy should be continued until disease progression or intolerability. HIV-positive patients should continue HAART concurrently.
Additional Instructions:
Patients should take the medication at the same time each day, with water, on an empty stomach. Strict pregnancy prevention measures are required due to the teratogenic risk. Routine monitoring of CBCs, liver function, and renal parameters is essential. Depending on the individual risk profile, thromboprophylaxis may be recommended to prevent venous thromboembolism.
Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature (below 25°C). Keep capsules in their blister packaging to avoid moisture exposure. Do not open or crush capsules. Keep out of reach of children, and dispose of properly if expired.
Common adverse events include neutropenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, fatigue, and constipation. Serious risks involve venous thromboembolism, liver enzyme elevation, and secondary malignancies. Proactive monitoring and supportive care are essential during long-term therapy.
