Reference information will be available soon.
Dasamyl 50 is a generic formulation of dasatinib, a potent second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) leukemias. It is specifically designed to inhibit both BCR-ABL and SRC-family kinases, enabling rapid hematologic and cytogenetic responses even in patients who are resistant or intolerant to first-line therapy such as imatinib.
Dasamyl 50 is used in both adult and pediatric populations, allowing flexible dosing across various disease stages. Its ability to penetrate the central nervous system (CNS) makes it particularly valuable in managing leukemic infiltration of the CNS, where other TKIs may have limited efficacy.
AntiCancer Drugs > Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)
Dasamyl 50 is approved for patients with Ph+ CML across all stages, including newly diagnosed chronic phase, accelerated phase, and blast crisis. It provides an effective alternative when patients fail to respond to imatinib, owing to its broader and more potent kinase inhibition profile.
> Philadelphia Chromosome–Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ ALL)
Dasamyl 50 is used either in combination with chemotherapy or as monotherapy in patients with relapsed or refractory Ph+ ALL. Its ability to cross the blood–brain barrier enhances its effectiveness in CNS-involved leukemia and makes it a suitable option during pre-transplant induction phases.
> Myeloid & Lymphoid Blast Crisis
In CML patients who have progressed to blast crisis, Dasamyl 50 can induce faster cytogenetic responses compared to first-generation TKIs, thereby providing a critical therapeutic window for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
Dual inhibition of BCR-ABL and SRC-family tyrosine kinases
Effective against most imatinib-resistant BCR-ABL mutations
CNS penetration for managing leukemic meningitis or CNS relapse
Suitable for both initial treatment and salvage settings
Accelerates hematologic and cytogenetic remission
1. Adult Dose – Leukemia
Chronic Phase CML: 100 mg orally once daily
Accelerated Phase CML / Blast Phase CML / Ph+ ALL: 140 mg orally once daily
Duration: Continue treatment until disease progression or development of unacceptable toxicity. Monitor hematologic parameters, watch for pleural effusion, and assess cardiovascular health regularly. Dosage adjustments may be necessary depending on tolerance and laboratory results.
2. Pediatric Dose – Leukemia
10–<20 kg: 40 mg orally once daily
20–<30 kg: 60 mg orally once daily
30–<45 kg: 70 mg orally once daily
≥45 kg: 100 mg orally once daily
Notes: Dosing must be reassessed every 3 months or when significant weight changes occur. For Ph+ ALL, treatment should begin by day 15 of induction chemotherapy and continue for up to 2 years. Tablets are not suitable for patients under 10 kg.
Store at 15–30°C (59–86°F) in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep tablets in original packaging until use. Do not break or crush the tablets. If broken, handle with gloves to avoid skin contact. Keep out of reach of children.
- Common: fatigue, diarrhea, headache, nausea - Hematologic: anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia - Respiratory: pleural effusion, dyspnea - Cardiovascular: QT interval prolongation, edema - CNS: dizziness, insomnia (rare) - Others: skin rash, elevated liver enzymes
