Dasanat 50 is a generic dasatinib formulation indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive leukemias. As a potent second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), it exhibits strong activity against BCR-ABL mutations, including imatinib-resistant variants, and inhibits multiple SRC-family kinases. This broader kinase inhibition leads to rapid hematologic and cytogenetic responses, making it a preferred option in advanced and high-risk cases of CML and Ph+ ALL. Its ability to penetrate the CNS also allows for effective prophylaxis or treatment of central nervous system involvement in leukemia.
- AntiCancer Drugs > Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) Dasanat 50 is primarily indicated for adults with Ph+ CML in chronic, accelerated, or blast crisis phases, especially for those who are resistant or intolerant to imatinib. It is also approved as a first-line treatment for newly diagnosed chronic phase CML in high-risk patients. Its rapid onset and deep molecular response contribute to improved long-term disease control. > Philadelphia Chromosome–Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ ALL) Dasanat 50 is used in combination with chemotherapy or as monotherapy in relapsed or refractory Ph+ ALL. It is especially valuable as a bridge to stem cell transplantation. Its central nervous system penetration helps reduce the risk of CNS relapse, a major concern in ALL treatment protocols. > Myeloid and Lymphoid Blast Crisis (CML transformation) In cases where CML progresses to myeloid or lymphoid blast crisis, Dasanat 50 offers an aggressive treatment option capable of inducing rapid cytogenetic remission. It serves as an essential pre-transplant intervention or salvage therapy for patients in advanced disease stages.

1. Adult Dosage – Leukemia - Chronic Phase CML: 100 mg orally once daily - Accelerated Phase CML / Blast Phase CML / Ph+ ALL: 140 mg orally once daily Duration: Continue therapy until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Adjust dose in case of pleural effusion, cytopenia, or QT prolongation. Regular CBC, liver function tests, and ECG monitoring are recommended. 2. Pediatric Dosage – Leukemia - Body weight 10 to <20 kg: 40 mg orally once daily - Body weight 20 to <30 kg: 60 mg orally once daily - Body weight 30 to <45 kg: 70 mg orally once daily - Body weight ≥45 kg: 100 mg orally once daily Pediatric dosing is weight-based and should be reviewed quarterly or with weight changes. Initiation of dasatinib is recommended by day 15 of induction chemotherapy for Ph+ ALL. Duration may extend up to 2 years depending on disease response and transplant eligibility.
Store at 15–30°C (59–86°F), away from moisture and direct light. Keep the tablets in the original packaging. Do not crush or split tablets. Handle with protective gloves if tablets are broken. Keep out of reach of children.
